Songs From the Science Frontier – A Project by Monty Harper

by

Connect kids w/science. Help @montyharper fund a CD of songs about scientific research. http://kck.st/91VLTR

“Songs From the Science Frontier” is about connecting kids (ages 8-12) with science. The twelve songs I’m recording for this CD are unique because most of them focus on current scientific research happening right here in Stillwater Oklahoma. Specific topics include phototaxic bacteria, stress hormones, wheat genomics, bacterial biofilms, bat taxonomy, x-ray crystallography, and luminescence dating! The deeper messages are that science is an ongoing process done by real people. Science is relevant, important, accessible, and cool!

We’re kind of fond of science ourselves at 365, and anything that brings more science to kids is alright by us. Help Monty out if you can, even if it’s just spreading the word. Only 4 days left, so time is running out!

What is Flash Fiction?

"Flash fiction is fiction with its teeth bared and its claws extended, lithe and muscular with no extra fat. It pounces in the first paragraph, and if those claws aren’t embedded in the reader by the start of the second, the story began a paragraph too soon. There is no margin for error. Every word must be essential, and if it isn’t essential, it must be eliminated."
